Firetec CB Systems
These should not be confused with Firetec® CB automatic fire extinguishers.Firetec® CB systems consist of standard cylinders with 2 or more plugs connected to the cylinder by steel pipe work. The plugs are manufactured to customer specified predetermined melting points, which trap the pressure within. Different plugs can be supplied with different response temperatures in the same system.
They have no moving parts, and are totally independent of electricity. When any one of the bulbs is subject to the predetermined heat, (bulbs are available in 7 specifiable response temperatures), that bulb melts releasing the cylinder contents at that point. The release is spread locally from that point by a daisy wheel dissipater.
Firetec® CB systems are available with cylinder sizes from 1 litre up to 12 litres, and with a wide range of proprietary foams, powders and gases.
They are useful for protecting 2 or more specific risk areas, including (uniquely) areas with different ambient temperatures of up to 150°C.
They provide little or no protection against fires that have not started in their immediate vicinity, other than as a whole compartment, or room flooding aid.
Their use is very specialised.
